It all began with a group of students looking for a chance to do something out-of-the-box and unconventional... going beyond the boundaries of studies and exams...

So here's introducing the pioneering team of Ground-Station Atharva:

               The PRATHAM team of IIT-B was looking to include other Universities into their grand project by involving them in setting up a satellite ground station in their respective campuses, our maverick team of 7 saw this as a golden opportunity.

                What followed was a great interaction with the IITB PRATHAM team through the workshops they conducted at IIT Bombay and  successful completion of a number of tasks assigned to them which included

1) Simulating antennas in the 4NEC2 - a software meant for antenna design. 

2) Manually constructing the two different antennas
   

                It’s worth mentioning that our team worked on the implementation of their own design. In this pursuit, fabricating the antenna and adapting an innovative approach of testing new materials, where in place of traditional aluminum couplers, experimentation was done using lightweight and strong acrylic couplers. This experience gave us a new insight into the practical working of our antenna. 

3) Choosing appropriate chips and circuitry for the signal reception unit.


Being in final year of engineering, the team of super-seven had to find the best mix of dexterity and knowledge, dedication and passion to drive the project to it’s completion. This prompted them to select a new team in the year 2010, which included:

As the project reached its completion stage, most of these reached their final Semester of Engineering. Hence they too were endorsed to select a mix of knowledge, hard work  dedication and new ideas. Thus a new team of 11 was selected in the year 2012, which included two of the previous members who were in their final year :-
